Based on laws such as the Spanish Historical Heritage (Law 16/1985) and Extremadura (Law 2/1999), the study combines musicological, historical, sociological and anthropological approaches. The main objective is to establish a replicable model for Heritage Education, adaptable to other geo-cultural contexts. The methodology adopted is holistic, using triangulation of historical, ethnographic (interviews) and technological (geolocation) sources. This allows heritage to be documented, analysed and activated, ensuring that it is recognised and valued by society, encouraging its enjoyment and understanding. Key results include the creation of geo-referenced experiential routes for tourism and teaching, the updating of a multilingual web portal (‘Centro Virtual Extremeño de Patrimonio Musical’) for the dissemination of knowledge, and the involvement of citizens through participatory research. In addition, the information has been integrated with the Geographic Information System of the City Council of Cáceres (GIS) and present and future teachers and researchers are being trained in sound mapping. The project is succeeding in revealing unpublished aspects of the musical history of Cáceres and has contributed to the recognition of intangible heritage elements, such as the jota and the manual ringing of bells, promoting the officialisation of ‘El Redoble’ as the anthem of Cáceres. This comprehensive model highlights education as a fundamental pillar for the sustainable and participatory management of cultural heritage, bridging the gap between academic research and its social application. El proyecto de investigación en curso sobre el patrimonio musical de Cáceres busca explorar y valorizar su legado sonoro. Apoyándose en leyes como la del Patrimonio Histórico Español (Ley 16/1985) y la de Extremadura (Ley 2/1999), el estudio combina enfoques musicológicos, históricos, sociológicos y antropológicos. El objetivo principal es establecer un modelo replicable para la educación patrimonial, adaptable a otros contextos geoculturales. La metodología adoptada es holística, utilizando triangulación de fuentes históricas, etnográficas (entrevistas) y tecnológicas (geolocalización). Entre los resultados clave se incluyen la creación de rutas experienciales georreferenciadas para turismo y docencia, la actualización de un portal web multilingüe (Centro Extremeño de Patrimonio Musical) para la difusión del conocimiento, y la implicación ciudadana a través de investigación participativa. Además, se ha integrado la información con el Sistema de Información Geográfica del Ayuntamiento de Cáceres y se están formando a presentes y futuros docentes e investigadores en cartografía sonora.
