"Voz Castua" : la construcción de la identidad extremeña a través de la emigración

Abstract

In order to analyse the whole Extremadura, as we must know it nowadays, the emigration entails one of the most interesting and involved facts. Contemporary History about our Community explains the importance of diferents migratory processes and a building of an Extremaduran Identity beyond its frontier areas which explains new contexts and facts. The Associationism, which is so important into this kind of processes, allowed and nowadays allow Extremaduran people to search common places and different cities like Barcelona, Madrid or Bilbao. However, all this kind of Extremaduran people don ́t persue the same aims. We can see this fact in groups like “Voz Castua” ( Extremaduran people in Barcelona), so they claim a kind of aims which goes far away other groups . The last one begins to divulge the most important cultural elements from Extremadura. Then, the emigrant groups are transformed into real promoter elements related to an specific activity. This activity defends an objective which searches to became aware of marginal situation in Extremadura and a translation of this difficult reality. They, as emigrant peolple, don ́t have any problem to do that. The distance is not a problem anyway.
