Mobiliario perteneciente al coro del Convento de la Merced de Écija

Abstract

Español: Con el presente artículo pretendemos poner de manifiesto la importancia que tuvo el mobiliario litúrgico, consustancial al coro, dentro de las órdenes religiosas masculinas y en concreto en el Convento de Mercedarios Calzados de la ciudad de Écija (Sevilla). Dentro de los conventos masculinos que aún se conservan en la ciudad, es la única sillería que se ha mantenido ubicada en el lugar para el que fue realizada, el coro alto. No se descarta la existencia de otra sillería en el coro bajo, como lo demuestran los Hic est Chorus que se conservan pintados en los pilares laterales. Este conjunto de bienes muebles ha sufrido pérdidas y cambios importantes como el facistol, algunas cresterías en los sitiales, la tubería interna del órgano, etc. Aunque desconocemos los autores que intervinieron en la realización de la sillería de coro, campanilleros y órgano, contamos con una inscripción que data la fecha de construcción de la sillería de coro en 1718, intentando realizar a partir de este dato una aproximación al resto del mobiliario coral. Inglés: With this article we aim to show the importance that liturgical furnishing, inbuilt to the choir, had inside male religious orders and specially in the Convento de Mercedarios Calzados in the city of Écija (Seville). Among male parish churches that still remain in the city that is the only one that keeps the choir stalls situated in the same place where it was made for, the high choir. It can not be ruled out the existence of other choir stalls in the lower choir, as it has been proved bye the Hic est Chorus which remain painted on the side pillars. The whole of the movable properties has suffered important lost and changes like the lectern, some ashlar crests, the internal pipe of the organ, etc. Although we do not know the authors who took part in the building of the choir stalls, the belfries and the organ, we have an inscription which date the construction of the choir stalls in 1718 that let us make an approximation to the rest of the choir furnishing.
