Marfil Vázquez, F. Fora Baetica. La provincialización de los modelos forenses imperiales en la provincia ulterior Baetica

Abstract

This novel monograph analyzes in depth and in an updated way the abundant historiography (the one already existing in other highly-founded publications and the one recently discovered) on the forum as an architectural complex in general and of those located in Betic territory in particular, due to the need to synthesize in a single work all the historiography related to the forensic complexes of the Baetica Province in order to carry out the first global analysis of these foci and thus have a complete reading of them.This doctoral thesis carried out by the researcher Francisco Marfil Vázquez, arises from the research activities that have been carried out at the University of Huelva, specifically within the Vrbanitas research group. This thesis, turned into a monograph, is a clear and important example of how the paths open to research are continuously expanded and updated and that the fields of knowledge covered by cultural heritage are unlimited. Archeology and heritage are the two fundamental axes of this work and that are the object of study within this research group, where two research projects are being carried out regarding monumental public architecture of classical antiquity, where the need has been reached. to carry out research on the fora of the Baetic cities, a need with which this specific study arose.

Esta novedosa monografía analiza con profundidad y de forma actualizada la abundante historiografía (la ya existente en otras publicaciones de gran fundamento y la descubierta recientemente) sobre el foro como conjunto arquitectónico en general y de los ubicados en territorio bético en particular, debido a la necesidad de sintetizar en una misma obra toda la historiografía relativa a los conjuntos forenses de la Provincia Baetica para poder realizar el primer análisis global de estos focos y así tener una lectura completa de los mismos. Esta tesis doctoral realizada por el investigador Francisco Marfil Vázquez, surge de las actividades de investigación que se han llevado a cabo en la Universidad de Huelva, concretamente dentro del grupo de investigación Vrbanitas. Esta tesis, convertida en monografía, es un claro e importante ejemplo de cómo los caminos que se abren a la investigación se amplían y actualizan de manera continua y de que los ámbitos de conocimiento que abarca el patrimonio cultural son ilimitados. Arqueología y patrimonio son los dos ejes fundamentales de esta obra y que son objeto de estudio dentro de este grupo de investigación, donde se están ejecutando dos proyectos de investigación referentes a la arquitectura pública monumental de la antigüedad clásica, donde se ha llegado a la necesidad de elaborar una investigación sobre los fora de las ciudades béticas, necesidad con la que surgió este estudio en concreto.
